This is a complete engine rebuild gasket and seal kit for the 1972 through Early 1973 1000cc Sportster, with copper head gaskets. The pushrod cover washers are rubber in this kit. (The photo may still show cork – we are in the process of replacing it.)

The photo shows you what parts are included in the kit that will arrive at your door. You will receive every gasket, seal and O-ring shown in the photograph! (The colors of some gaskets may vary.)

****Some kit specs****

• Head gaskets are a nominal 0.020″ (approx. 0.5mm) thickness copper. (copper thickness varies within tolerance)
• Base gaskets are approximately 0.031″ (0.8mm).
• Primary gasket is unbeaded, a nominal 0.020″ (0.5mm) or thicker.
• The three large oil seals all have spring-loaded rubber lips.
• The 12 pushrod cover washers are rubber – about 0.175″ thick (just under 3/16″, or 4.5mm).  

****Applicable models****

1972 to Early 73 1000cc Sportster XL, XLH, XLCH
Head gasket note:
These head gaskets are the standard bore and thickness for ONLY 1972 through Early 1973 1000cc models. For later years the bore is larger and the head bolt pattern is slightly different.
If they do not fit, your cylinder and head have probably been replaced with a newer version (Late 1973 or later), and you will need different head gaskets.
Please ask us for help if these head gaskets do not match your old ones, and you are not sure what cylinder and head you have.
