This is a complete engine rebuild gasket, seal and O-ring kit for the 1986 through 1990 model year 1200cc Sportster engine.  For an 883 that has been converted to a standard 1200, this is the kit to use.

MLS Head Gaskets This kit has 0.030″ (0.76mm) thickness MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) head gaskets for the 1200cc engine. Will also work on 1100cc engine but the head gaskets will be slightly oversize. The base gaskets are the same for 883, 1100 and 1200cc motors.

Rocker Gaskets The rocker cover gaskets are rubber. The rocker base gaskets are 1-piece style.

****Some specs****

  Head gaskets are MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) with a thickness of 0.030″ (0.76mm).

  Primary cover gasket is 0.031″ unbeaded.

  Cam cover gasket is 0.031″ silicone beaded on both sides.

  The 8 rocker cover washers are fiber or better.

  Upper, lower and inner rocker cover gaskets are rubber.

  Rocker box to head gaskets are 1-piece style.

  Exhaust gaskets are tapered style compressed knit wire mesh, graphite-filled for strength and the best seal.

  1986-1990 1200cc Sportsters
Note: If your 883cc has been converted to a standard 1200cc, then this is the kit you will need to get the correct head gaskets. The standard 883 and 1200 use all the same gaskets and seals except for the head gaskets. When this kit is used for 1100cc engines – the head gasket bore will be slightly oversize, but the base gaskets are the same.
